Week One

We have been in Peru for a week now. It's hard to believe!! It has been a busy, exciting, and overwhelming week. We have spent most of our time setting up our new home and learning about life in Cusco. Our house (which belongs to missionaries who are in the States on furlough for the year) is very comforable. We have just had to purchase some kitchen items and rearrange a bit of furniture. We are learning to navigate the city by taxi, combi (small bus), and foot. We still feel quite vulnerable and lost but we certainly expected this.

The missionary team here in Cusco has been extremely helpful in making the transition to Cusco easier. They have taken us to the grocery store and the market, helped us find Spanish tutors, and welcomed us with a lunch on Friday afternoon. We were excited to meet the whole team and hear more about what God is doing in Peru. We may be taking a "vision trip" with the team in two weeks where we will all get away together to talk about plans for ministry and even a new church plant. We went to church yesterday (a short walk from our house) and Greg was able to go out to dinner in downtown Cusco with some of the other missionary guys on Saturday.

Luke is so excited that we live in Peru!! He really has made the transition quite well!
